Which address to use
Manuscripts, proofs and questions on the publication fee go to the editorial office at the address above; before submitting, read the instructions to authors of Archivio Italiano di Urologia e Andrologia. Requests concerning a supplement or the proceedings of a meeting are handled by the same office.
Questions on the drug price list — a dosage, the availability of a pack size, which prescription is needed — reach the same address. The procedure is described on Come ordinare: ricetta, disponibilità e tempi di risposta, and the full list of categories and prices is in the listino della farmacia con prezzi, principi attivi e obbligo di ricetta.
What to put in the message
A complete request is answered once instead of three times. The table below lists what the office needs in order to reply without a second round of e-mails.
| Request | What to include |
|---|---|
| New manuscript | Title, authors in the submitted order, corresponding author, the file in one of the accepted formats |
| Paper already under review | Title and the reference the office assigned when the paper was received |
| Proofs | Issue and page, the figure or table concerned, the correction written out rather than described |
| Supplement or congress proceedings | Scientific society, dates of the meeting, expected number of abstracts, name of the scientific coordinator |
| Reproducing a figure or an article | Article, the element to be reproduced, the publication or site where it will appear |
| Medicine in the price list | Name printed on the pack, strength in milligrams, pack size |
Italian and English are both read. A manuscript pasted into the body of an e-mail cannot be forwarded to a reviewer: it travels as an attachment, in the format set out in the instructions to authors.
What is not handled by e-mail
The editorial office does not make a diagnosis, does not set or change a treatment, does not comment on laboratory or imaging reports and does not issue prescriptions. A medicine with obligation of prescription is dispensed against a ricetta written by a doctor who has examined the patient: how that works in Italy is described in ricetta medica: quale serve, quanto dura e come si ottiene, and what the price list can answer is in come ordinare.
Symptoms that need an answer in minutes rather than in working days — fever with pain in the flank, inability to pass urine, blood with clots, pain after an injury — are for 112 or for the nearest pronto soccorso. An e-mail is read in the order it arrives and is the wrong channel for an emergency.
Where the office is
The address above is the registered office of Edizioni Scripta Manent in Milano: the same one that appears on the Google listing of the publisher, on its invoices and in the colophon of the journal, with the same telephone number in all three. The map below points to it. Parcels — proofs on paper, a book sent for review — go to that address.
