Issues

Every issue indexed on this portal, year by year; the full texts are open access and hosted on PagePress.

Archivio Italiano di Urologia e Andrologia has been published quarterly since 1924. The list below covers the issues indexed on this portal; the full texts are open access and are hosted, together with the more recent volumes, in the journal archive on PagePress. Abstracts are available from 2010 and complete articles from 2012 onwards.

Each issue collects original articles, reviews, case reports and notes on surgical technique. Papers accepted but not yet assigned to an issue appear in online first, before the printed issue; manuscripts still in peer review are listed in the papers under evaluation. Monographic volumes and meeting abstracts are published separately as supplementi dell’Archivio Italiano di Urologia e Andrologia and atti dei congressi delle società scientifiche.

Citing an article: volume, issue number and year follow the numbering above. Authors preparing a submission should start from the instructions to authors, which set out the publication fee and the formats accepted.

How an issue is identified

Four numbers a year mean that a reference carrying only the year is ambiguous: n.1 and n.4 of the same year are nine months apart. A complete reference gives number, year and pages, in the form used in the list above. Supplements and congress proceedings run in their own series and are not one of the four regular numbers, so a citation that treats a supplement as an ordinary issue sends the reader to a different volume.

Finding a single article

Three routes, in order of speed. A DOI in the reference resolves straight to the published version. A search by the surname of the first author and a word from the title in PubMed returns the record with volume and pages: the journal is indexed there under the abbreviation Arch Ital Urol Androl. The list above is the slowest route and the only one that still helps when the reference has lost both the DOI and the authors.

Which version a reference should point to

An article already assigned to an issue is cited with number, year and pages. Before that it exists as an advance publication and is cited with its DOI, which does not change when the issue comes out. The distinction matters in a thesis or a systematic review, where a reference verified months earlier may in the meantime have moved into a numbered issue; what changes between the two versions, and what does not, is set out in online first.

Requests about a specific volume

The editorial office can confirm whether an article belongs to a regular issue or to a supplement when the reference is incomplete, and can say which volume carries the proceedings of a given meeting. Requests of this kind, and requests to reproduce a figure or a table, go to the contacts of the editorial office. Supplements, congress proceedings and online first sit beside the regular issues: the index of the journal sections says where each of them is.
